“Ne Bahar Kaldı Ne Gül Ne de Bülbül Sesi Var” (There is no spring, no rose, no nightingale’s voice) is a Turkish song with music by Rakım Elkutlu and lyrics by Nahit Hilmi Özeren. It is a sad song that speaks of lost love and hopelessness. It is in Bayati makam (mode) and Ağır Aksak usul (rhythm).
Rakım Elkutlu was a Turkish classical music composer who lived from 1869 to 1948 in İzmir, Turkey. He has around 450 musical compositions in religious and secular music genres. He received his initial music education from his uncle, who was a Mevlevi sheikh, and continued to learn from other musicians to improve his repertoire and music knowledge. Rakım Elkutlu graduated from İzmir High School and worked as the imam of İzmir Hisar Mosque. He is known for his unique style of blending old and new elements in his compositions. On December 4th, 1948, Rakım Elkutlu passed away at the age of 79. There is a cultural center in Bornova, İzmir, named after him, and concerts are held in his memory.
